Hello first off I just want to say peace and love you guys been killing it since forever. I was curios though about the foundation is key message that comes out through out your site. I personally love foundation but where I stay (maryland) no one specializes in it, do I have to go to new york or another state to learn foundation and if so where should I go first. Secondly is their anyway to learn foundation without direct teaching cause again where I live their are only a few people who specialize in foundation. Also If I due find myself lucky enough to travel would people actually help me out with my foundation or would I have to pay for a workshop or something. Again much respect any advice would be good thanks for your time.

Foundation is the Key to Creativity means all foundation....not just footwork and toprock...it also means power foundation, uprock foundation...
Foundation is not one style!
It would be your choice to come to NY to learn foundation ... I'm not sure of any classes going on other than Ken Swifts Classes .... there are spots to practice ... not sure who will help ... of course the only members living in NY is myself and Teknyc ... and we are willing to help or teach others....class or practice...
But if you have people close to you that do foundation ... connect with them if you can ...
I know as far as my crew ... us learning foudation was simply by gettin tips from old-school heads and us figuring it out for ourselves....
If you watch Old-School (True-School) footage of bboys you will learn and decipher FOUNDATION!
peace.... hope this was helpful....

but abs...drop that foundation definition on here for me cus i still duno the ACTUAL meaning of the word...ive heard kenny explained it couple of times but i never got it down like understood the real meaning....people usually thinks foundation is basics ..and vise versa...im sure you've asked the older guys wat it is and im assuming youve asked kenny??..if yea jus let us kno wat HE says and break it down??...anyway ewok's down here but we only hung out twice..threw down at this sneakers show that he got flown out for...he ripped...even tho he havent got down for 3 weeks he said...anyways...peas man

yo whatup kreate....
I actually never asked Kenny his definition before ... but i did email him on that but no response yet....
My definition:
Foundation is the basic structure of each movement to get you to the next move or to master a move....
-For example, if you practice any basic footwork pattern such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7...etc...and you master any of those and/or all patterns, then you can be more creative in creating your own footwork patterns or footwork 'tricks' (some might call it)...as long as your form is clean. -2nd example, pencil drills or one-shots (headspins) and definitely headtaps ... are and is the foundation to continuous headspins....
-Another example of foundation is ones own style.... once a dancer has mastered their style within himself or herself they're complete style becomes his or her foundation....
-if a dancer creates certain movement and people start copying and performing the creators movement(s) then that becomes foundation in the dance....crazy but it is true....
Hope this was somewhat helpful......
I'm gonna work on my foundation of thought......haha
Peace Peace

"As teachers and students we have learned that without structure and base, one can not make sense in skipping steps unless they have mastered the basic 1, 2 and 3."

Yo kreate i emailed Wiggz on this subject also and .....
This is Mr Wiggles foundation breakdown.....
Quote: Mr Wiggles for me in breaking there is the -blueprints (laid down by the nigga twins era, and in this, these BBOYs were freestylin like house dancers do, and they had moves tht were different than what spy and his era did, and that did'nt have any knowledge of what Spy and them did, they new nothing of the next generation, that sh&t is funny) but FREESTYLE is part of this foundation, while they had allot of set moves, and steps,, they was freestylin..
-Then you have the mid 70's era, where young black and latinos, started to lay down moves that would become common, and standard for BBOYS, to me this means that while allot of dances come and go, some dance style create a standard form of movement, and then generation by generation it becomes a fondation. this era (mid 70's) laid the foundation of what we call breakin today TOP ROCK, GO DOWN, FOOTWORK, FREEZE, EXIT LIKE A BBOY -But there are elements in breakin that can't be taught like foundation, but are important, FLAVA, CHARACTER, STYLE, ect
all these things make foundation IMO FREESTYLE TOPROCK, GO DOWN, FOOTWORK, FREEZE STYLE, FLAVA, CHARACTER and last but not least SOUL!
these are my opinions bro
peace wiggles
